EXERCISE 4/ CUPCAKE Y/ This final model is a combination of U and E, therefore the idea of the presentation and technique of Molecular Gastronomy combining. I tried to reflect that with having the structure of U and the contrast, and trying to merge this with the idea of containment – the concept behind E.
EXERCISE 4/ CUPCAKE W/ This model is a combination of U and Y and it plays with use of materials, in that the base is made of foam, and the support ‘columns’ and made of light plastic, giving it an airy look, that I think refers to the ‘culinary foam’ developed by Ferran Adrià- a pioneer of Molecular Gastronomy.
EXERCISE CUPCAKE U/ I played with the different qualities of the materials, in how they manipulated the light; the glass reflecting and distributing the light, the foil reflecting it, and the way the wool was effected by the light.
EXERCISE 4/ CUPCAKE U/ This model was made to represent the manner in which Molecular Gastronomic Creations are presented. I found that they play with contrast extensively- contrasting tastes, textures, colour and this is something that I wanted to reflect on. As well as this I, was looking the idea that they are very carefully and analytically constructed.
EXERCISE CUPCAKE Q/ I like the way the materials are almost food like- the cork like a bread or biscuit texture and the foam like a sponge of cream. It reminds me of the gastronomic constructions of the Molecular Gastronomists we have studied.
