Photinia Robusta is a small fast growing tree with glossy red foliage turning to green. It has small white flowers in Summer with red fleshy fruit following. With a dense growth habit it's great for screening.  Paul says, “As you know, Robusta has very attractive spring growth in dark red. See attached photo of a hedge near me in Woodside. Several other cultivars are available, each slightly different. It’s tough, fast growing and as a semi-formal hedge needs a trim 2-3 times a year.”

Murraya paniculata hedge  Paul says, “Very common semi-formal hedge plant, attractive green soft foliage, white fragrant flowers through spring/summer. Needs a good hedge after flowering minimum, although through growing season you can hedge it 2-3 times. Good drought tolerance. There are a few cultivars of Murraya available.”

The idea is to have a double layer hedge. Camelia at the rear then Murraya at the front and wrapping around on the sides.
