Here, the louvered windows, wooden stools and tongue- and-groove panelling at the facing side of the island bench all signal a relaxed lifestyle. But it's the decision to separate the room into two halves that distinguishes this kitchen. The lower half is kept white and natural, while the top half, reflective glass that's been tinted aqua, suggests an expanse of sky.
