under side view of Arts & Crafts table showing sliding dovetailed wedges housed under the top. Precision work indeed but the top of this table will ALWAYS remain flat!
I've always felt you can judge the overall quality of a dining table by how the top is secured to the base. There are easier ways to do the job BUT sliding timber 'buttons' are hard to beat.
Contemporary?? well not really. actually an iconic 'Arts & Crafts' design from the 1890's (Ernest Gimson) but a wonderful table that still works in a modern space.
