Remember these Australian phone booths? They were being phased out and replaced with metal ones by the time I was a teen.

The inside of these phone boxes was the first "painted finish" I ever saw. And I remember the hollow sound when you talked on the phone.

Wow this is an oldie - with the winder handle to get through the exchange. The buttons marked the slots for the different coins.
