This mouth-blown lead crystal vase has long been an Iittala best seller but Alvar Aalto himself never saw a cent of the profits. The design rights remained with Iittala whose Karhula-Iittala glassworks factory ran the original design competition that inspired it. In 1937 Aalto anonymously entered his Savoy Vase in the Paris Worlds Fair under the pseudonym "Eskimo Woman's Leather Breeches" and won. With a name like that they were hardly going to award it to anything else.

Inspired by a table after visiting the Nuutajarvi glass museum, Matti Klenell created the Nappula Candlestick collection. Available in two sizes and in a range of colours, the Nappula looks great on its own or can be bundled together with other colours to create different levels of height and light.

The Nappula candleholder was born when designer Matti Klenell visited the Nuutajärvi glass museum and fell in love with an unusually shaped table.

Iittala's decision to go out on a limb with Klaus Haapaniemi's 2007 design Taika (Finnish for 'Magic') seems to have paid off as the series became Iittala's biggest selling product line. Whilst Haapaniemi's folky forest drawing is a major departure for a company known for its minimalist products the forms of this series remain clean and simple and come from Heikki Orvola's 2006 Aika series.

Robert Foster's Fink water jug is an Australian design classic and perhaps the most recognisable design object to come out of the country. The company's first product remains its flagship. Whilst the fluid form of the jug is an obvious reference to the liquid contained within, the shape is actually the result of Foster's search for the perfect pour. Unlike the vast majority of jugs and carafes the Fink water jug doesn't go glug, glug, glug and it doesn't drip.
