Beginning Sound Bingo!! Sound Bingo is a literacy game which allows students to identify beginning sounds in a fun and engaging way. It is a great little addition to literacy centers and/or stations. It is designed for pair-work or small groups of up to 7 students.

I have used a 'train' theme to help with phoneme segmentation. Explain to students that the train is going forward on the track, and does not go backward. It is one way straight ahead, and we see the engine first and then the carriages in order. Kind of like learning to read words by looking at the sounds across the line from left to right. Students make each letter sound and blend together hear word. For example, student says /p/ then /i/ and last /g/ then reads word pig.

A fun visual template for students to use for spelling as well as introducing phoneme segmentations. Students may have the option to write or place letters in the right box.
