Whitehaven Beach

White Haven beach. The sand is 99 % silica and the phenomena is caused by the silica sand bed that is in between the two beaches. The tides ensure that these two beaches are the only beaches in the world with this type of sand. The silica makes the sand almost pure white and it regulates the temperature of the sand so that it's comfortable to walk on even when it's a hot day.

Kingia is a genus consisting of a single species, Kingia Australis. A slow growing plant, native to south west Western Australia, Kingias are similar to grasstrees in habit, except for the flowers. They have one or more trunks, 6 to 8 metres tall, with a large tuft of grassy leaves atop. The flowers give an interesting look to the plant, as yellow-green to brown round flower heads on stalks are held above the mop of foliage

Dawn at Devils Marbles

The Devils Marbles is a large field of boulders in the central Australian desert of the Northern Territory. There is an overnight camping area and it is wonderful to experience sunset and sunrise amongst the huge stones. The site is known as Karlu Karlu to the land's Aboriginal traditional owners.
