Robert Gyselman states that his parents 'enjoyed the close community living that existed in Wayatinah and the cold was not a problem for the Dutch and other European migrants. As children it was a great place with wallabies and other animals often around and winter snow to play in. The families with children soon became friends and a great social life was enjoyed by many in these communities.'
