Vintage Van Life
It has only been four nights, but it has been the most life-affirming few days away for me, at a time when I desperately needed a little break. Once again, our adventures in Tiney-Boppa were fuelled by simplicity - good food, good company, and doing a whole lot of sweet nothing. This photo, sums up everything that makes my heart sing. I am so eternally grateful for my little world.
Moonee Beach is possibly our favourite spot we have stayed in yet. The only issue is that the beach south is not an off-leash beach and the beach north means a creek crossing. So I was transported to a happy place when we did a bit of dawn exploring this morning and visited the Woolgoogla headland and found Woolgoogla Back Beach - possibly the most divine off-leash dog area I have ever seen. That is our next two afternoons sorted! #startthedaywithsomethingbeautiful #woolgoolga
I love it when we travel, either in Tiney-Boppa or further afield, as it means I have my morning companions with me again. With my little tribe on another incredibly beautiful deserted NSW coastline. #startthedaywithsomethingbeautiful #vintagevanlife #coastaldreaming #coffscoast
However this morning, the NSW entry requirements were updated and as of today, people who have visited the Gold Coast were no longer required to quarantine. The rejoicing in the cottage, when I texted the kids was something to behold. Our little trip in Tiney-Boppa and a few days away is back on! I am now counting the sleeps like a child before Christmas. There is no big secret as to where we are going, but keeping it to myself makes it feel like even more of an adventure, so stay tuned!
Rissie and I were meant to go to Goondiwindi for an Inter-District netball carnival today but she was full of cold last night and when the alarm went off at 4.15am it was pretty obvious that we were not going. I crawled into bed and woke up at 11.45am. I love sleep so much I can almost taste it and having such an indulgent sleep-in was a treat. I increasingly love sleep, rest, doing nothing, and recharging the soul. #beachsidedreaming #corindibeach #coffscoast #coffscoastnsw
I have painfully itchy feet. Luckily Archie and Rissie finished their jobs and Archie even said to me, "Momma you never stop working" at which I could say to him, "oh stop it....." I shut my computer and we went to dinner. I have itchy feet. We have booked a little getaway in early July, just for a night or two as we are all desperate for a break in Tiney-Boppa. Stay tuned for details..... Note to myself, stop googling shit.
We have a big two weeks ahead of us to finish My Notes from High St, Gallery & Store in time for the planned (fingers crossed) opening date of 10th May and the winter sports season is underway. As a result, Archie, Rissie, Kevin, Rosie and I have covered up Tiney-Boppa in readiness for her winter hibernation. Thank you to Al Jamieson who always takes such lovely sneaky shots when we are away adventuring. Sunrise on Corindi Beach, Northern NSW.
The kids and I have an agreement that they only do winter sport as summer is kept for weekend adventures (Italy - I wish, but maybe 2022????), swimming out at the lake, rock jumping at Boonoo Boonoo and aimless drives on country roads with no fixed destination. Luckily I have a head that is filled with memories of fabulous adventures and images and I know with all my heart that our next adventure that is never far away.
Kevin, Rosie and I headed to the beautiful Ballina lighthouse this morning at dawn to watch the sunrise. There is a weather change on the way and it was a wild old morning on the point. The weather suited me just fine as it meant I could alternate between pretending I was the French Lieutenant's wife or an interesting, anti-social, wind-swept lighthouse keeper. #startthedaywithsomethingbeautiful #ballina #ballinalighthouse #lighthouse #northernnsw
With all the Covid issues in QLD and Northern NSW, I was in two minds about heading off in Tiney-Boppa. But as soon as Anna lifted restrictions so the kids were ok to go to their Dad's and Gladys gave the all clear for Ballina, we were packed and ready to go in an hour. We came down the range pretty slowly as there was torrential rain but finally we made it. A few days by the beach is exactly what the doctor ordered and this is where Kevin, Rosie and I will be hanging for Easter.
Tiney-Boppa has been uncovered, moved into position and readied for her next adventure. Due to the Covid situation in SE QLD I am not sure if it will be just me and the dogs, or if Al will be joining me or if the kids will be joining me instead of their Dad. Regardless I am so excited, I am weary right through my bones and muscles and I can't wait to sit with the dogs, smell the salt air and watch the beautiful world float by. #vintagevanadventures #vintagevan
Growing up on the Gold Coast, I spent many years with the family and then later as an adult exploring the QLD coast which is without a doubt a beautiful coastline. However, I have fallen head over heels in love with the NSW coast. It does my head in that we can have stretches of the most amazing beaches all to ourselves for hours on end. Thank you for a lovely few days Ballina, we can't wait to return.
I have always been a sucker for a lighthouse. They are for me, up there with windmills. When I see them, I lose myself in a thousand stories in my head. The kids and I had a late start this morning due to being lashed by a storm for most of the night. The rain cleared for long enough this morning for us to go looking for a lighthouse. Holidays are for togetherness and the kids just adore being woken at dawn to come walking with me. They get really, really, really excited when I wake them. I hope they remember our sunrise moments and when they are older look back and think, oh yeah we actually loved those moments!!!! 😂😂😂
