— The challenge of this new home was to fit a generous design onto a compact site. Outside, this meant using every inch of space, yet still retaining a sense of grandeur and openness, such as in the daybed which overhangs the pool. Tundra limestone served as a strong, neutral base used on the front façade of the home, extending through the interior spaces to the rear garden and posts, while white render, black metal work and timber battens added fine detailing and warmth.
The bench is supported by custom steel brackets that are anchored to the concrete retaining wall. The design intent was to emphasize a floating plane of wood, rather than bringing attention to the connection.
