Supporting Parents - Developing Children: A project in southern Hume is assisting parents to help their young children get ready for school. These early years are important times for learning and developing skills. Parents are their child's first teacher and initiatives such as: bilingual playgroups, early years hubs, English language playgroups, bilingual storytime sessions and occupational therapist and speech pathologist programs, are making a difference to families.
The Catholic Education Office Melbourne (CEOM) has a range of resources and information for parents to assist them to engage in partnership with their local parish primary school and secondary schools.
This project is funded by the Australian Government and focuses on promoting awareness and understanding about the importance of engaging parents in education, in schools and in their child’s learning.
