Who knew that the '70s airbrushed panel van had a life outside of the United States? We're pretty sure that big, V8-powered Dodge and Chevy vans were never sold en masse outside of North America, so we doubt that those in 1970s Europe or Asia got to experience the joy of cranking up a Frampton Comes Alive 8-track while smoking some doobage in a shag-carpeted van with a coyote airbrushed on the side.

On the 14th February 1966, Australia introduces decimal notes and coins, marking the end of its British-style currency system of pounds, shillings and pence. To emphasize Australia’s link with the Crown, it is planned that the major unit will be known as the ‘royal’. But public disquiet compels the Government to change its mind and adopt the ‘dollar’. Initially there are six coin denominations with designs by Stuart Devlin and four banknotes.

On 17 February 1942 there was a Japanese reconnaissance flight over Sydney Harbour by “the Glen”, a float plane that could be dismantled and stored at the front of a submarine.
