Going, going, gone!
This looks like it might be a very rare photograph indeed. It shows the lifting of the track of the "loop " railway line run by the St Kilda and Brighton Railway Company in southern Melbourne some time in early 1862. The flooded area is almost certainly what is now the Albert Park Lake. My grateful thanks are to Australian railway authority Ian Jenkin who has identified the location and provided a wealth of information.
