Before & After: Tsukubai Front Garden | PITH + VIGOR

I would say that this is a typical, under loved entry way, but the makeover that this homeowner gave to the front of his home is so perfect and inviting and radically improves the curb appeal. This is a tsukubai (蹲踞?) garden. A tsukubai is a small basin provided in Japanese Buddhist temples for visitors …

More from the ANLD tour...

You didn’t think I was going to be okay with sharing just a little teaser from the gardens I visited on this tour did you? No! It was so nice to see so much lush foliage and such beautiful color, especially since the garden back home was still covered in a blanket of snow. I'm always amazed by the brightness of the foliage and flowers of tropical plants, we don't often get such saturated color in our northern gardens. I'm sure they would look out of the place though, somehow these colors need heat to look at home…

Bokor - Bundeena House - Planting Design by Mallee Design

The original Colgate – Palmolive manufacturing plant built between 1920 and 1930 was converted to 110 apartments and 10 town houses with associated parking. Large areas along the waterfront were dedicated to the public as a waterfront park. The approval for the development was granted by the Land and Environment Court and the development has been praised for its sensitivity to the heritage elements of the existing buildings and their setting. The project represented a successful outcome for…

Is it Time to Reconsider Using Australian Natives?

Is it Time to Reconsider Using Australian Natives?

Australian Natives got a bad name thanks to the scruffy gardens of the 1970s, but they're drought tolerant, easy to maintain, and versatile. And, as you'll see in the following images, Australian...

People who think like this are right in thinking that art can please the senses and wrong in that they think art has no practical use. Did you know that some arts have practical uses? In fact, when you consider aspects like elegant backyard pond ideas, you can see both the practical and…
