Lily Elsie April 1886 – 16 December was a popular English actress and singer during the Edwardian era, best known for her starring role in the hit London premiere of Franz Lehár's operetta The Merry Widow.

From the book: "World champion Charleston dancer Bee Jackson wears a beaded and fringed dance dress, popular at the time, as the fringes would shimmer and shake and draw attention to movement. This dress is shorter than the typical styles of the era. Paste jewellery known as "slave bracelets" was often worn high up on the arm as well as the wrist." Scanned from "Decades of Fashion" by Harriet Worsley.
