640 Fifth Ave. | Capt. Cornelius Vanderbilt III Residence, NYC. Pictured: Grace Wilson [Mrs. Cornelius III] Vanderbilt , dressed in full evening regalia seated in a Louis XVI chair with a harp to her left in the music room of the Vanderbilt mansion on Fifth Avenue. Circa November 1941. The residence was originally built by William H. Vanderbilt, one of two "Twin Mansions" at 640 & 642 Fifth Ave., and passed to his son George W. Vanderbilt.
