I couldn't put this book down. Jeannette Walls is an awesome writer and keeps you engrossed in this book! Her next book "Half Broke Horses" (which precedes this story) is also a great read. The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls
Impulse by Ellen Hopkins (Grades 9 & up). Three teens who meet at Reno, Nevada's Aspen Springs mental hospital after each has attempted suicide connect with each other in a way they never have with their parents or anyone else in their lives.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. A crime story told from the point-of-view of an autistic boy. His perceptions are as, or more, fascinating than solving the crime! My favorite Mark Haddon book.
