Tuesday's Favorite Finds #19 Pencil Art

For this weeks installment I have a wonderful collection of various forms of pencil art created from an object that artists use everyday.

Sculpture class assignment was to build a tower out of wood that was at least 4 feet tall, and was free standing. I decided to make a giant pencil. Its not solid wood, its hollow. I glued 6 long panels together and spray painted them. For the tip of the pencil, I layered plywood into a block shape and carved it into a cone. The tip is just drawn on with pencil. The end of the pencil is two tomato cans. The eraser is half of one of the cans, painted pink. Made by Alan Becker.
