A nice "beach read" kind of book.

If You Liked This Oscar Nominated Film, Youll Love This Book (pg.

As close to a contemporary Jane Austen as we're going to get.

Sense and Sensibility-esque.

The Three Weissmanns of Westport by Cathleen Schine.I picked this up because I really liked "The Love Letter" a long time ago. This novel took me FOREVER to finish (I quit reading anything for two weeks). It was just slow and depressing.

The Lace Reader: A Novel by Brunonia Barry (Towner Whitney, the self-confessed unreliable narrator of The Lace Reader, hails from a family of Salem women who can read the future in the patterns in lace, and who have guarded a history of secrets going back generations, but the disappearance of two women brings Towner home to Salem and the truth about the death of her twin sister to light.)

I like most of Brunonia Barry's books~

It takes the disappearance of her Great-Aunt Eva to get Towner Whitney back home to Salem.

Barry revisit some of these characters in other novels, as Tabitha King has done so well in the past. There seem to be a lot of stories left to tell.

I love, love, love to read! I have cards for two local libraries and they get put to good use.

Gods in Alabamaby Joshilyn Jackson
When Arlene Fleet headed off to college in Chicago, she made three promises to God: She would never again lie, never fornicate outside of marriage, and never, ever go back to her tiny hometown of Possett, Alabama (the "fourth rack of Hell"). All God had to do in exchange was to make sure the body of high school quarterback Jim Beverly was never found

Gods in Alabama - Joshilyn Jackson - I love Jackson's authentic southern voice. The characters were so believable and well drawn. A story about dysfunctional families, closet skeletons, forgiveness, and redemption with some sweet tea thrown in.

Read Ann Patchett's State of Wonder! She is one of my favorite authors and this is a masterful story that evokes Conrad's Heart of Darkness.
