Triggers for children with Autism & Sensory processing difficulties. As parents - its important to understand how totally over whelming these triggers are. Even the thought of them can cause extreme anxiety.

IEPs... Yeah That. So true, but what's worse is I am a special education teacher and the mom of an Aspie. They say there is no rule book for parenting, there surely isn't a rule book for children on the Autism spectrum. What works for one, may not work for another. What works for one child one day, may not work the next day. Learn something new every day.

IEP = Individual Employment Plan --- Only problem is that whole "employment" part: of people with autism can't convince anyone to hire them. But, we should address this as a concerned public because autism is on the rise.

An Odyssey: Learning the Hidden Curriculum - Learning the hidden curriculum social rules of society remains a struggle for autistics long after they grow up. For example, even though I am an almost 60-year-old woman with autism, over the past few years, I have learned a lot of new-to-me hidden curriculum items. The hidden curriculum refers to all the social information that everybody seems to know but isn’t directly taught to anybody.

Learning the hidden curriculum social rules of society remains a struggle for autistics long after they grow up.

Until recently, the primary theory behind these social issues has been that individuals with autism prefer to use local information processing (focusing on the details of a stimulus) as opposed to global information processing (focusing on the stimulus as a whole).

A new study may explain one reason poor social skills in children with autism. The study revealed that children and adults with autism have a much more narrow functional field of view than their neurotypical peers.
