In 1990, Stan Fishler, retiring Executive Director of the United Way of Northern Nevada, left behind an unprecedented legacy bringing together consistent goals and achievements made by the organization. Under his reign, a more efficient food distribution center was conceived; dental care was made available to children and indispensable advancements were introduced to better provide for those people in need. In 1995, UWNNS established the Management Support Center (MSC). It was designed to aid nonprofit organizations by providing capacity-building training to advance professionalism, efficiency and quality. To better meet the needs of nonprofits in the region, the MSC offered a research library service and various forms of technical assistance.
