On July the Lewis & Clark Expedition stopped in present day Atchison, Kansas, where they celebrated Independence Day.

South of Oakley, Kansas, Monument Rocks aka the Chalk Pyramids are seen in the distance. The rocks have weathered out of the surrounding soil “over millions of years”, according to some people who are talking like they know. I don’t know how long it took for the transformation of the landscape, but the towering rocks are a sight to see!
