Dred Scott – September was an African-American slave in the United States who unsuccessfully sued for his freedom and that of his wife and their two daughters in the Dred Scott vs. Sandford case of popularly known as "The Dred Scott Decision.

The infamous Dred Scott decision that slaves had no legal rights even in free states and territories.

The Dred Scott decision case, affirming the right of slave owners to take their slaves into the Western territory. There by negating the doctrine of popular sovereignty and severely undermining the platform of the newly created Republican Party.

Dred Scott...subject of the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in 1857 which denied citizenship to the Negro.  Voided the Missouri Compromise Act.  Became one of the events that resulted in the Civil War.
