Say hello to the strangler fig. Its found in tropical South America, and is, in all actuality, a parasite. It grows in the crevices of branch intersections and grows its roots all the way to the ground, wrapping around the host tree, ultimately cutting of its ability to grow and stealing food. When the host tree dies, the strangler fig remains, creating these beautiful structures that call to me like a jungle gym. Natural architecture at work.

Rainforest: Strangler Fig viewed from inside, where the original tree stood (the Strangler Fig wraps around the host tree and slowly takes it over, leaving this, only the fig) - from Project Noah.
