Pearly King and Queen- Pearly Kings and Queens, known as pearlies, are an organised charitable tradition of working class culture in London, England. The practice of wearing clothes decorated with pearl buttons originated in the century.
The privilege of becoming a Pearlie King or Queen gets passed down from generation to generation. These little children would one day move up from Pearlie Prince/Princess, to King and Queen on the passing of the elder.
