A young Marilyn Monroe in Griffith Park, LA, in August 1950. Photos by Ed Clark. Before she became the epitome of glamour (and tragedy), this was Marilyn Monroe: a wanderer, a loner. She always gave the impression she lived in a slightly different time zone than the people around her, an otherworldly being forever trying to mimic human behavior—to act.
During the shooting of 'River of No Return" in Marilyn Monroe wounded her leg. The filming was interrupted one week. During this time, the photographer John Vachon took several pictures of the actress wearing her crutches and leg cast.
