Mushroom Croque-Monsieur ~ This traditional French sandwich is topped with a classic Mornay sauce (a béchamel sauce with cheese) ~ but a quick way is to simply cook mushrooms in butter and add to sandwich, leaving out the mornay sauce ~ delicious!
Croque-Monsieur Recipe: I used dried thyme and I'm not sure if it affected the recipe, but I thought he thyme over powered it, even though I used half the amount. Honestly, I'd rather have just a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
It doesn& get much better than croque monsieur: layers of bechamel, ham and gruyere cheese. Topped with a perfectly poached egg, however, croque monsieur becomes irresistible.it also becomes croque madame :)
