NW532 - This interesting cloth is an odd updated variant of the classic duna marriage cloths that were once typical of Nupe women's weaving from Niger state, Central Nigeria. The classic form of a white ground decorated with red, green, and black extra weft float motifs has here been jazzed up by the weaver, making full use of a new availability of more varied colours to spectacular effect. Condition is excellent. Dates from circa 1970s.:

NW531 - Superb example of Nupe women's weaving from Niger state, Central Nigeria, with exceptionally finely woven extra weft float patterning on a green, black and red striped ground. Note also the subtle use of stripes in the weft, almost concealed by the warp threads adding further visual interest. Condition is excellent. Dates from circa 1950-60s.
