Wall Hanging - 11. The Elusive Little Black Squirrel at Kolomoki made by Judith Lawrance. From Judith: "While camping at Kolomoki Indian Mounds in Blakely, Georgia, we saw an unusual black squirrel scampering across a field with some ordinary gray buddies!  Every time we return to this site, we search in vain for that little fellow!  Alas, he seems to have disappeared! This quilt is an altered form of one block of a pattern by Bunny Hill."

Every time we return to this site, we search in vain for that little fellow! Alas, he seems to have disappeared! This quilt is an altered form of one block of a pattern by Bunny Hill."

She was looking for an edge-to-edge pattern that would make a modern looking quilt.  She is very happy with the results.  It was an interesting challenge and went together like a puzzle."

At the end of the year, I put the blocks together, designed and stitched the border, and machine quilted the quilt. This quilt will always hold a special memory of my friend, Grace, and her generous nature."

After creating patterns from them, I marked matching fabric, embroidered the veins, cut out the leaves, and appliqued each one onto a block. Fruit and flowers added more color. Diane Higginbotham's leaf quilt was my inspiration."
