Suzanne Ciani

"The frustration was with the philosophy of the instrument," says Suzanne Ciani, when we ask her why she gave up her beloved Buchla synthesizer decades ago to pursue a career in piano-driven New Age music.

1970 - ARP 2500 was the first modular synthesizer from the one year old company inspired by Moog. The synth was quite advanced with VCO, VCA, Filter, LFO and Arpeg/Seq modules that are routed by a 10x10 matrix switch system instead of the usual patch cables. Designed Electronics Engineer by Alan R. Pearlman [ARP] the 2500 was capable of superb sounds but was not very easy to use and understand. ARP would improve on this with the popular 2600 one year later."
