"Morning", from Nicolas Lancret's series showing four times of the day.  The mistress of the house is pouring morning tea, not afraid of yielding her undressed state from the cleric who has called.  Exemplifying the 'corrupt' and 'debauched' state of the court under the regency of Philippe d'Orleans (1715-1723), Lancret's charming low genre scenes nonetheless exhibit intimate glimpses into the life of the haute bourgeoisie  and their pleasures.~
