Somehow I ended up at The Bath Priory, a boutique hotel where Head Gardener Jane Moore presides over loose, impressionistic plantings set against formal Victorian walls. Needless to say, it was lovely, with big fat thistles and starry Cosmos and that particularly English lavender that smells so good after the rain.
