More Evidence That Mars Lost Its Atmosphere - Mosaic self-portrait of Curiosity at the John Klein outcrop on Feb. 2013 (NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS) Although today Mars’ atmosphere is sparse and thin — barely the density of Earth’s at sea level —

Nasa's Curiosity Mars rover has been put into "safe mode" after a computer glitch caused by corrupted files. The robot, which is analysing rock samples on the Red Planet, is now running from a back-up computer.

Rock dust analyzed by the Mars rover Curiosity contains chemicals and substances indicating life could once have thrived on the Red Planet, NASA announced yesterday. Scientists are calling the new finding the strongest evidence yet of Mars’ habitable past

High-resolution views Curiosity's three left wheels and of rocks and soil at the rover's Gale Crater field site

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity is beaming home amazing photos of the Red Planet. See Curiosity's latest Martian pictures here.

Nasa engineers have finally removed the dust cover from one of Curiosity's most important cameras, taking a series of stunning images of the rover's wheels on Mars.

Context is everything. Hi-res images of Mars's mountains and landscapes are all very impressive, but this shot of Curiosity's wheels really drives home the fact that we've got a robot romping around on an alien planet. Mars has never seemed so close.
