Josef “Jupp” Diefenthal, he served as battalion and later regimental adjutant alongside Theodor Wisch during the first two campaigns of the Leibstandarte in the East. He was awarded the German Cross in Gold on October 1944, and the Knight’s Cross on February 1945, following a recommandation by Joachim Peip
Gustav Schreiber, 9th SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen, (25 December 1916 – 5 March 1995) was a Hauptscharfuhrer (Sergeant first class) in the Waffen SS during World War II who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II. He was also one of only 631 men to be awarded the Close Combat Clasp in Gold for 50 days of hand-to-hand combat.
