The official state bird of Florida is the mockingbird. Northern Mockingbirds have extraordinary vocal abilities - they can sing up to 200 songs, including the songs of other birds, insect and amphibian sounds, even an occasional mechanical noise.

The Mockingbird: The Mockingbird is a symbol of innocence. Atticus says that that they do nothing to harm us, they just give us music. In a way the mockingbird is like Scout and Dill, they are innocent and don't do anything to harm anyone.

Mockingbird - Texas' State Bird. I love to listen to the mockingbird singing. I always have a pair in the early Spring that nest in the tree outside my bedroom window. I have no idea if it's the same pair but I so love listening to them sing. :-)
