Reproduction of an 1837 Sergeant's Uniform from the 24th Regiment of Foot at Fort York, Toronto - From the curators' comments: "The 24th served in Canada in 1776-81, 1790-1800, and 1829-40. It garrisoned Toronto in 1837 after being sent to Lower Canada [i.e. Quebec], where it operated against insurgents in the Rebellion. The regiment returned to Toronto in 1838 to guard the provincial capital during the rest of the crisis before returning to England in 1840."
