Apart from showing the use of a foundation garment in a dress that has a slightly more casual aesthetic, this photo reference discusses again the importance of fabric when it comes to draping - and that's why I wanted to keep it. As the photo caption notes, many designers start by pinning different fabrics on a dress form and analyzing how it falls, drapes, and shifts. This allows them to properly assess which fabric would be most suitable for their design's end use and aesthetic.

The foundation skirt for this half of a super fancy ballgown clearly has many, many layers of tulle and crinoline fabric seen down the underskirt from the waist. This gives thr skirt its full shape and structure/stiffness.

This beautiful dress was draped in a way that clearly took into account what Gwenyth Paltrow would wear under it, hence the likely foundation garment incorporated into the dress that we can't immediately see. But I am sure it is there. Note that this dress probably isn't fitting as well as it could on a different body.

This photo references 15th and 16th century fashion, giving insight into the history of fashion. For this alone, I feel that it is worth saving. However, this photo also explains how farthingales were used before crinolines, and how crinolines revolutionized the way women dress by making their dresses lighter. The crinoline could achieve the shape and structure while minimizing the weight of many layers of fabric.

I kept this as a photo reference because it shows extremely clear step-by-step photos regarding how to construct and drapr the giant puffy skirt we saw earlier. Evidently, there is a long base layer of fabric that likely serves to protect the wearer from tripping or getting her feet tangled up in the many layers of fabric. But after that, layer upon layer of what appears to be organza fabric is sewn on in order to create that extreme fullness.

Model Carmen dell’Orefice in a white corset for a advert for Lastex. I’m guessing it’s but judging by the hairstyle it could be.

This photo is a good reference to keep because it shows the structure and underlayer of what can be identified as the skirt portion of a potentially elaborate dress. It is an example of a foundation garment because it is constructed through the building up of fabrics for volume, shape and structure. This piece most likely sits under an A-line gown.
