Congrats to doctoral student Kaitlyn Schroeder-Spain for being selected as a 2015 John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellow. She will travel to Washington D.C. where she will be matched with an executive branch agency or congressional office for a year-long fellowship.
Congrats to Dr. Pamela Plotkin, director of the Texas Sea Grant College Program at Texas A&M University, who has been designated as a “Harte’s Hero” for her work with endangered sea turtles on the Texas coast.

@txseagrant is delighted to announce that three new extension specialists are on board now at TAMUG and TAMUCC! These new specialists will contribute significantly to the Texas Sea Grant extension team, and strengthen our partnership with Texas coastal campuses and the communities that they serve.
“Back in December 2013, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service decided to reduce funding to the nesting beach program in Mexico for this current nesting season,” says Pam Plotkin, Director of the Sea Grant Program at Texas A&M. ”They have communicated that they will cease funding the program in 2015.”
