Italian battleship Roma. The fourth ship of the Vittorio Veneto class. Was sunk 9 September 1943 on route to Tunisia after the Italian armistice, by hits from two German Fritz X guided glider bombs. Her sister ship Italia (ex Littorio) was also damaged by Fritz X bombs, during the same incident. Italia made it to Tunisia.

HMS Barham Explodes and Sinks, 1941 [Full Resolution]. Dramatic Newsreel footage captured the sinking of the Queen Elizabeth  Class Battleship.   A salvo of torpedoes from a German submarine struck from close range on HMS Barham on November 25, 1941 in the Mediterranean. Within four minutes, the battleship had listed over to Port and the ships magazines had exploded, sinking the battleship and killing 863 men.

German 11 inch battleship Scharnhorst: she saw much action in the war, finally being sunk at the Battle of North Cape on 26 December 1943 by a British task force led by the battleship HMS Duke of York. Only 36 of her crew survived.
