Leptosperma, Australian tea tree, grows readily in NZ. Something different, pretty little flowers for the garden.

The fruit of Leptecophylla juniperina, a flowering plant native to New Zealand and southeastern Australia. In New Zealand, it is known as Prickly Heath and Prickly Mingimingi, and one subspecies in Tasmania is called Pink Mountain Berry. The plants grow best in areas with moderate winters and cool moist summers, and the fruit is edible.  Photo: Noodle snacks

The next time you eat an orange slice it in half. Instead of throwing the peel away, spear it onto a cut tree branch. Make sure the hole isn't too big where you poke the branch through because it has to be snug. Now fill with bird seed. When the birds eat the seed, the peel will start to biodegrade on it's own so you can either let it fall to the ground and biodegrade or remove it. If you keep replacing it the birds will learn to keep coming.
