Etymology is fascinating!
Words and their origins are so fascinating! Spending time with our developing writers exploring the etymology, or history of words, develops not only their writing, but also their spelling and reading. So it is time well spent! This weeks' wonderful word is 'nascent' which comes from the Latin verb nasci, meaning "to be born." Other words that derive from nasci which you will be familiar with are 'nature', 'native', 'nation' as well as 'innate' and 'natal'. Follow us for more!
