What An Opportunity!

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you aren't all busy with report writing, school work, planning and organising (although I know a lot of you are!). Recently, I was contacted by RIC Publications with the fantastic offer to review some of their books. I have been a HUGE fan of RIC books for quite some time so I jumped at the chance! I responded with a YES, YES, PLEASE, PLEASE and within a few days I received this great pack of books! The first book I looked at was the Maths Handbook For Teachers…

A while back, RIC Publications sent me some goodies and I wanted to share with you some of my favourites. Activities range from shoulder, wrist, hand and finger strength building games to scissor, drawing and writing skills. There are 233 pages of wonderful printables and ideas. Professional Book Review: "NZ Curriculum Poetry" by Lee-Ann Holmes (RIC Publications 2015)

Through the power social media networking, I have had the great privilege of being able to access some wonderful up-to-date literacy, numeracy and topic learning texts offered by RIC Publications (oh, and they also offer some great teaching and learning ideas via their Facebook page)! After some very convivial Emails with their Australian contact person, the New Zealand warehouse sent me through a selection of a few of their texts that might suit the Year 5-8 area of the school that I teach…

Lovingly handcrafting unique, creative & beautiful kiwi resources!

This was originally supposed to be one of our popular "Best Waitangi Day Read Alouds for Primary" type blog posts......... however, I'm very disappointed by the lack of good 'read alouds' for our Primary kids on this topic! I'd like to lay down a challenge for our amazing Kiwi Authors to look at filling this huge gap - it's such an important topic, and as most Primary teachers know, the easy way into tricky subjects is often through a good book. If you compare the differences in EASY TO USE…

Some helpful resources!

Hello friends! It's been a while since I've shared anything so I thought I would kick 2016 off with a few resources that I found useful in 2015, while teaching first grade. Although teaching shouldn't be centred around nor relied upon textbooks and blackline masters, I feel they still have their place as a useful tool. I received some wonderful books from RIC Publications last year and thought some other teachers might find them useful, too. Being in Australia, it can sometimes be difficult…

R.I.C. English Resources Review

I have been very fortunate to receive several Year 3 & 4 teaching resources from R.I.C. Publications to review. Please note that all the opinions I am about to share are my own :) Two of the books I received are comprehension books which is awesome as I am always looking for good comprehension tasks that can be used for independent reading, particularly with NAPLAN (Nation wide testing) coming up in the first half of the year. The first one is Teaching Comprehension Strategies Book D Ages…
