daily writing prompts - I've done this, going to give it a try again. You can give them a prompt and/or allow them to select their own topic. Develops writing fluency! Also do 1-minute alphabet writer (they write alphabet in sequence over, and over until a minute is done- do uppercase and lowercase separately....good for handwriting/letter writing fluency).
A VISUAL GUIDE TO ORGANIZING YOUR PAPERS - Look at the shape of this organizer. While your essay will be about a specific topic, try to start and end with general statements. The largest part of your essay is the body paragraphs because these paragraphs explain and support your position. Do not overlook your title! Your title is the first thing reader's will read and you do not want it to be the last thing! Your title should be interesting AND indicate what your essay is about.
