Clunes, Victoria - 1911

Looks like St Thomas Aquinas Catholic church in the top right.

Creswick, like many regional locales in #Victoria, was a thriving town in the late 1800s as gold, minerals and forestry took hold. The railway making its presence in 1874 boosted the growth. By 1900 it was a model Victorian town. Creswick is now a beautiful destination becoming more reliant on tourism to keep its history alive. Only a few hours from #Melbourne it is a lovely place to getaway and #wandervictoria. #creswick #clunes #daylesford #hepburn #tourism #daytrip #melbournedaytrip

Clunes Post and Telegraph Office was built in 1879. The building is designed in an Italian Renaissance "palazzo" style. The building replaced an earlier, smaller post office built in 1861. The building is so much bigger and grander than its predecessor due to the towns rapid expansion and peaking of population in the 1870s. #clunes #postoffice #history #renaissance #hepburn #hepburnshire #creswick #daylesford #victoria #melbournedaytrip
