Mooney Memorial Fountain, Brisbane, 1879 - The fountain at the corner of Queen and Eagle Streets was erected by the Brisbane City Council in 1879 as a drinking fountain. It had no association with the monument to James Thomas Mooney, a fireman, who was killed on March 25, 1877, neither has it any association with the victims of a gun accident in the Botanic Gardens.
