The Souters were reported the first chemists in Gulgong. They also appear to have had established the branch in Home Rule which is shown here. The goldfields' chemist shops were also used as consulting rooms by visiting doctors.

Catholic Church, Gulgong 1872 Grandma Blanch was widowed at 40. She had 14 kids and made ends meet by doing washing and other similar jobs for the nuns. She lived into her nineties and never remarried. Those were the days we can never imagine. Life was a battle everyday!
