Exeter A Show - eventing trials. Graphite powder in Alkyd with white lead in oils heightening. This is on Yupo FGS 150 gsm which is no longer available... Open life of the Alkyd was a few hours which allowed plenty of time for gaining definition and slight textures to enhance the drawing. Deft brushwork handling the detailing without going overboard and thus romancing the mystery.
'Archie' the GWP gundog passed away suddenly and David asked me to capture him for posterity. Here is my memento artwork. Graphite powder and lead pencil with alkyd oils overlay on Yupo Ultra full sheet which was primed and prepared for the job.
A commission from the Western Districts of Victoria, Australia. It features 'Shine' the Kelpie in a montage of ideas milling about behind the dog portrait study. An oil exercise in tonal arrays on canvas with reciprocal gaze engaging the viewers.
Child Play - Valley Lake Sight - Flight of the Black Cockatoo (1986). Drawn with black Stabilotone wax crayon and watercolour over which a brisk treatment of Alkyd oils finished the artwork. Actually it was deliberately left slightly unfinished looking to add to the sense of flippancy. On Dalton polypropylene stock 3ply 1/2 sheet and scanned into digital format from a primary printout after drum scanning. The joys of all… :)

Fairy Wren Water - Flight of the Black Cockatoo (1986) Swiftly drawn in Stabilotone wax crayon (water colour base) with lavish glazing in Alkyd oil paints on Dalton 3 Phase (3 ply) polypropylene 1/2 sheet. Laser drum scanned from the original art which was taped to the drum itself. This is a digital copy of the original print which was made in 1987.
