This is more a "I want to go to the library"pin. The British library is on my to do list, there are so many wonderful things there. They have free tours that show them working to conserve items and different techniques used to care for their collections. I think it will be fascinating.

This book has just celebrated its 45th birthday and is still a favourite for young children. I have my copy from when I was little (still in good condition) and the other week I was lucky enough to get one of the limited special Hungry Caterpillar pillow pets. I'm not sure what I will do with it but I just had to have it!

PICTURE The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written and illustrated by Eric Carle. Copyright This book is about one caterpillar who is very hungry. He goes about his day eating different things. He eventually spins a cocoon and becomes a butterfly.

Ye Olde Time Williamstown! This is my home away from home (otherwise known as work) and we have a fabulous Local and Australian History and Heritage collection and access to ancestry.com and findmypast.com. We have regular classes and meetings on how to research your ancestry and other local history. Our resident historian is Amanda and she sure knows her stuff!

The cornerstone of every library before Google was Encyclopedia Britannica. It was the first place you looked for information for an assignment for school or if you were just curious about something. They look so very impressive on the shelf, immaculate, pristine, and oh so coveted. If you had these at home...WOW people were jealous. I have wanted one for many years. I think I will still get one as they are now within my price range and an excellent addition to my Henry Higgins library.

I was very pleased to see that this was happening in Melbourne Central. There are different variations on this "take a book leave a book" free library idea all around the world and I will be trying to share some of those with you. Now if I can only remember the name of the first one I saw.....

LIttle Library in Melbourne Central works on an honesty system where people can come and exchange books to read. -- good for the little lending library!

Yes yes I have pinned the State Library before but this beautiful room deserves its own pin. Standing in there looking up is such a thrill. In the centre of the room is the old research librarian "throne". I can see how that would make you feel all powerful and I would love to get in and look at the room from that perspective.

Remember these? NO? Well they were very daunting to start with and sometimes finding a book was a bit hit and miss. Often it would take longer to find the book than it would to read the small bit of information you needed from it.

World's first paperless public library in US Bexar County, Texas. I have to say each to their own. This type of library is suited to certain demographics and it is great that they are able to connect with the community. However....Give me a good paper book any day
