The Battle of Culloden was fought on Drumossie Moor, to the north east of Inverness, on April 16, 1746. It was the last of the great Jacobite risings - popular attempts to reinstate a Stuart monarch on the throne of Britain - and was led by Charles Edward Stuart, also known as Bonnie Prince Charlie or the Young Pretender.  This is a Memorial to the Clan members that died that day. A large but thin foil-back ruby engraved with the cross of St George, surrounded by 26 diamonds set in silver, head of ring polished gold with engraved scrollwork, shoulders engraved. This ring was bequeathed to George, Prince of Wales, by Cardinal Henry Benedict Stuart, the younger brother of Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender. Fine Jewelry
